Thanks IU!

This is where I want to give a big kudos and shout-out to all my doctors and staff at the Indiana University Medical Center.

These are the guys that have kept me out of the hospital, on the green side of the grass for the past two years and steadily, albeit slowly, getting better. I was fortunate to be referred by a doctor friend of mine (a car guy of course!) to a friend of his who happens to be a top pulmonary doc teaching at IU (Indiana University). Since then every doctor I have seen at IU has been a department head and/or professor and they all communicate with each other. So every time I saw a new doc, he already knew all about my case and was ready to get to work. This is the only time being “an interesting patient” has worked to my benefit, as the complexity of my illness made for excellent discussion fodder in the morning group meetings and classrooms.

The doc handing my infection and immune issues works in the Cancer Pavilion at IU. This is the same bunch that fixed up Lance Armstrong; there are big pictures of him everywhere, so I felt pretty confident. I highly recommend IU Med Center for anyone with serious or complicated medical issues that are struggling within their medical system, as IU’s doctor infrastructure is very similar to the Mayo Clinic (another place I’ve been) and there is a lot of cutting edge stuff going on there.
